This is a perfect and unfortunate example of the intolerance and hate that people have towards the LGBT community. It is also an example of the type of violence that LGBT youth are facing in schools. The article also stated that Cheyenne Williams was not going to return to school for the rest of the year for her safety.

Kentucky Hate Crime
The No H8 campaign posted earlier this week about a lesbian teen who was kidnapped and attacked by three fellow female students in Kentucky. The three teens forced Cheyenne Williams into the woods at Flat Lick Falls and physically assaulted her before attempting to push her off a cliff. Somehow Williams was able to fight off the girls and run away from the scene. The girls are being tried for kidnapping and attempted murder.

This is outrageous! Im not sure if it makes it worse that it was done to a lesbian woman by other women. a hate crime is a hate crime regardless, but violence by someone of the same sex somehow seems to make it worse in my mind....what do you guys think???
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that people are not able to express their sexuality and they have to go to the extent of dropping out of school. I understand that she is afraid but i also do wish that there were more people who try to prove a point by going back to school. this is a different situation though because it is a risk to her life. I hope they got those girls and that they got what they diserve
